Condensed Japanese culture
At Chakaiseki Akiyoshi, you can enjoy dishes that are beneficial both for your mental and your physical health. As a matter of fact, please try to enjoy the Japanese tea culture with all of your five senses: seasonal ingredients, expressive Japanese tableware (pottery, porcelain, lacquerware, woodware, etc.), flower arrangements, or calligraphy hanging scrolls. There won’t be any music disturbing the peace and tranquillity. Silence, the sound of boiling water, the sound of cooking, and so on, are sure to provide you with a unique Zen experience.
Communicating with the host is one of the pleasures
Everything in this space, such as artworks and acts of hospitality, has a meaning, a purpose, a certain touch, and a role to play. Please feel free to ask us about anything that catches your interest. We would be happy if by engaging in conversation with the host you would broaden your interest in Japanese culture. The antiques and other items collected by the host for more than ten years should also be worth seeing.
Enjoying the unique etiquette of Japanese culture
In regards to the tea ceremony etiquette it is true that there are many and various. We firmly believe that you can gradually learn them by repeating the experience. But let us start by enjoying the meal without being too strict about the rules. If you are interested in etiquette, you are more than welcome to ask your host. In order for you to fully enjoy the taste of the tea, quiet the mind and focus your attention on the tea in front of you. When doing so, you should firmly hold the tea bowl with both hands.
